By car
On arriving by car at Naples you can choose between car ferries leaving for the Island of Ischia from two harbours. One is the Porta di Massa Harbour which is in the city centre and the other is the Harbour of Pozzuoli which lies about 15 km from Naples. You can follow the signs on the streets either for "Calata Porta di Massa" or "Porto di Pozzuoli". Two shipping companies operate ferries from both harbours: Caremar (Tel. +39 081 5513882, or +39 081 984818; ca.travholi@tin.it ) or Medmar (+39 081 3334411 - info@medmarnavi.it).

The ferry time to the Island of Ischia is 60 to 90 minutes depending upon whether the high speed ferry is available and also whether the ferry stops en route to Ischia at another island in the Gulf of Naples, Procida (apart from the third well-known Isle of Capri).
The car ferries dock at two harbours on Ischia: the Ischia Porto Harbour (18 km from our Hotel) or Casamicciola Terme (14 km from our Hotel). There is also a third port on Ischia at Forio (6 km from our Hotel) ? however, this port takes only hydrofoils which do not carry cars and are suitable only for foot passengers.

Once you have disembarked at Ischia Porto or Casamicciola Terme you can choose between two different routes to our Hotel because the Island is oval in shape. The Western route follows the National Road 270 towards Lacco Ameno, Forio and finally the village of St. Angelo. Our hotel is located just before the village. This Western route generally follows the coastline, offering a wonderful panorama with wide roads. To join the Eastern route follow the directions on the street towards Barano d'Ischia, Serrara Fontana, finally coming to St. Angelo. This Eastern route takes the inland and more mountainous part of Ischia climbing the slopes of Mount Epomeo, the extinct volcano in the centre of our island ( 789 m above sea level). Here the landscape is enchanting too, especially from Barano d'Ischia onward, frequently affording views of sheer drops to the sea. The road goes then down to the sea and up to the little village of Succhivo, which is about 500 m before our Hotel.

By plane

The nearest airport to the Island of Ischia is Naples Capodichino (Tel. +39 081 7896111) which is about 10 km from Naples.

Flights arrive from every European country. The airport bus ( Alibus) leaves from the square in front of the airport every 30 minutes. The cost per person is € 3,00 including luggage transport to Molo Beverello with only one intermediate stop at Piazza Garibaldi where two of the four train stations in Naples are situated: Stazione Centrale and Stazione di Piazza Garibaldi.

By taking the Naples Underground you can reach the Harbour of Mergellina in the city centre (stop Mergellina) as well as the Harbour of Pozzuoli (stop Campi Flegrei), from both of which you can take a ferry to our Island of Ischia.

On the other hand, having taken the Alibus from the airport to Molo Beverello in Naples, (about 45 minutes) there you can take a ferry to Ischia from the following shipping companies: Caremar (Tel. +39 081 5513882 - +39 081 984818; ca.travholi@tin.it ); Alilauro (Tel. +39 081 7614909 ? 081 991888; info@alilauro.it ); or Snav (Tel: 0814285555 Fax: 0814285259; info@snav.it). The hydrofoil trip lasts 40 to 50 minutes depending on whether there is a stop at Mergellina or Procida. Alternatively you can take a quieter ferry with the company Caremar (contact above) or with the company Medmar (contact above) taking 60 to 90 minutes. These ferries offer outside decks with panoramic, breathtaking views of the Gulf of Naples.

Another alternative is to fly into the international Rome airport of Fiumicino , the well-known Leonardo da Vinci Airport (info@adr.it ). This airport is about 190 km from Naples and has flights from every continent. From Fiumicino Airport you can take the train to Termini Train Station in central Rome, from which trains leave for Naples every hour.

In train
Naples has excellent rail connections. There are four train stations in or near the city: Piazza Garibaldi (underground and trains), Stazione Centrale (trains), Mergellina (underground and trains), Campi Flegrei (underground and trains). All of these train stations are near or have easy access to the ports.

The Naples train station at which you arrive depends upon the city from which you come to Naples and the time of day. After arrival in Naples at the station Piazza Garibaldi or the Stazione Centrale you can catch a line bus to the port Molo Beverello. From the station Mergellina the Mergellina Harbour is about 500 metres, so, if you wish you can walk. If you arrive at the station Campi Flegrei it is 300 metres to the Port of Pozzuoli ? also a walk if you wish. From all these four train stations you can catch a taxi to the port you have chosen (taxi tel. +081 5564444).
